International agricultural specialists visited Khairi Murat
Attock (From Dr. Shuja Akhtar Awan) A delegation comprising international agricultural professionals visited the Livestock Research Institute in Khairi Murat. They were given a thorough briefing. The delegation, demonstrating keen interest in livestock, lauded the institution’s performance and planted saplings at the research facility.
According to the information, a delegation of agricultural experts from both abroad and within the country visited the Rainy Livestock Production Research Institute (LPRI) in Khairi Murat, Attock. The delegation included Dr. M. Christophe Dalibard from the Ministry of Agriculture in France, Dr. Wajid Pirzada, the former Chief of WTO at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Pakistan, and Irshad Ramay, who is the CEO of RECP Pakistan.
Dr. Murtaza Ali Tipu (Director of Barani LPRI) and Asad Abbas Khan (Research Officer) greeted the delegation. The delegation received an overview of the institute’s research activities, which encompassed rangeland management in Khair Murat, plant breeding and development programs, as well as livestock enhancement initiatives.
While on the field visit, the delegation reviewed the well-known Dhanni breed of bulls and the Salt Range breed of sheep, recognizing their ability to adapt to the local environment.
Additionally, the delegation visited the pastures of Khairi Murat and acknowledged the institution’s commitment to the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
Asad Abbas Khan (Research Officer) pointed out the institution’s initiatives in animal nutrition, breeding management, and housing systems, which were greatly valued by the delegation.
During the event, Dr. Christophe Dalibard stated: “Research projects like these in the rainfed areas of Pakistan are of global quality and will be crucial for the future development of livestock.”
According to Dr. Wajid Pirzada: “This institution has the ability to represent Pakistan on a worldwide platform, and its research should be associated with international markets.”
Irshad Ramay highlighted: “RECP Pakistan is dedicated to backing initiatives that promote sustainable development and enhance the living standards of farmers.”
The visit culminated in a tree planting ceremony at Tanaza Dam, illustrating the delegation’s commitment to green and sustainable development.
