We, independence and Quaid-e-Azam

We, independence and Quaid-e-Azam

By Hannan Sher

Introduction:

Pakistan is a country which came into existence on 14th August 1947, a fruit from our elders’ struggles for us. For Pakistan, many thousands of people sacrificed their lives and respect. The core idea for this marathon was to give a peaceful environment for future stars to flourish in a safe and sound environment. To lead the world with their leadership skills and moral values. For me, the Two-Nations Theory is not just about Hindu-Muslim conflict, it is about the two nations having different ways of showcasing their potential and by living together they will overlap with each other. And will struggle to express their talents with ease.
On 14th August 1947, we succeeded in getting independence. A separate land to pursue our journey of success. The vision of Quaid-e-Azam was to create an Islamic nation with rules and laws, promotion of democracy and unity, faith, discipline. A question arises that is the vision of Quaid-e-Azam fulfilled? For me, there are some bitter realities that need to be told to our nation.

Democracy:

Pakistan ranks 118 on the World Democracy index according to (EIU). This shows the strength of our democracy. Our country has already faced 04 martial laws in 1958, 1969, 1977 and 1999. Democracy is by people and for people. But this thought is sheltered many times in Pakistan. Not a single prime minister in 77-years history of Pakistan has completed their tenure of 05 years. On the other hand, India hasn’t faced even a single martial law. Showing a great example of being independent.

Law:

According to the WJP rule of law index Pakistan ranks 130/143 in 2023. This shows how well we are fulfilling the vision of Quaid-e-Azam. The culture of bribery, fake witness, ‘Wadera’ culture are core contributors towards weak law and order. From a hawker to the highest rank, we all are filled with hypocrisy. That is the bitter fruit of injustice that we face.

Unity:

In Pakistan, 97-98 percent of Muslims live together. They are divided into different factions including Shia, Sunni, Wahhabi etc. There is no unity among them. Which is not the vision of Quaid-e-Azam. As, it is the main reason why we are lagging behind our neighbors. We need to introduce such laws that ensure the unity among Muslims in Pakistan. So that we all play our role to benefit our country.

Economy:

We are on the verge of defaulting. Our foreign reserves are about to be depleted. We are surviving by taking loans from other countries. We have to pay 118 billion dollars according to 2024 reports. The revenue we generate is used to pay loans. In this situation from where we start our journey of development. According to poverty indices Pakistan ranked 52 on the list of world poorest countries. This is an alarming situation to deal with. Inflation in Pakistan is sky high. Petrol, gas, electricity, wheat, sugar prices are not in control of the government. Because of loans the government has to follow the directions of the IMF. Which questioned our independence.

Youth trust issues:

Pakistan is in Stage 03 of the demographic cycle. And have the most population of almost 60 percent of youth. Which is a plus point for a country. By utilizing them Pakistan can boost its rate of development. But unemployment puts breaks in the process. According to reports, after spending a crore, there are only 1,300 seats for doctors on BS-17 post while there were 23,000 applicants. Which shows how fast the country is growing. Keep in mind MBBS is the most valued profession in Pakistan. And is facing such crises. The way the country’s going to be difficult for youth to survive in Pakistan. As a result, lakhs of students and Labour leave Pakistan for a better livelihood.

Suggestions for improvement.

Freedom:

We need to find what freedom is. For me freedom is a state in which anyone can do anything under the humanitarian laws. But till now we are just enjoying the happiness of land independence. Which is of great concern as a nation. We need to adapt the trait of realization. As, slavery is not acceptable in Islam. We need to stand for our real freedom. For this to happen realization is a big contributor.

Honesty:

It is a universal trust that “Honesty is the best policy “. We need to bring out books and implement in each aspect of life. We have to be honest with ourselves in order to be honest with the country. If you have nothing to eat, try to sleep tolerating hunger rather than robbery etc. Have strong faith in Allah almighty. Keep on working with honesty.

Religion:

We are lucky that we have a country with 97 percent of Muslims. Which benefits in way to be united. We need to be close to Qur’anic verses and Sunnah to be on the right track. Try to be patient in every situation of life. Be humble. Stay connected with Allah and follow the ways told by Allah almighty.

Power:

Power is a great blessing from Allah almighty. But use is the main concern. From a hawker to an elite, everyone should use their powers correctly. Most importantly we are in a democratic country, where power is among people. Nation needs to wake up and use the fullest of their powers. To bring change in the current situation.

Justice:

The distribution of powers should be according to justice. Funds have to be used with phenomenon of equity. The education system should have equality. By addressing these we will make a way towards development. Corruption is the main issue that enables the laws of justice to be implemented in Pakistan. To address this issue the judicial system should be influenced free and independent.

Conclusion:

There is a clear difference between the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and what we have done till date. Consequently, we faced a lot of struggles with little joy. On 14 august we should not merely celebrate the dependence of the land. In short, we need to think as a nation about how to be independent mentally. Which is real independence. From the last 77 years we have only seen the worst. Wake up and do something for your country. It’s time for you to make a difference and stand for the right. Be hopeful and follow the sayings of Quaid-e- Azam: “Work, work and work”. But honestly. We will see a power nation taking real independence in the near future (Ins Allah).
