A Shining Star of Journalism has Set
Syed Qamaruddin, another bright-minded senior journalist who was the guardian of quality journalism in Campbellpur Attock, passed away due to prolonged illness. Syed Qamaruddin had been suffering from heart disease for two decades and, after undergoing a bypass procedure two years ago, his health could not be fully restored.
Syed Qamaruddin has been leading in scholarly literary and journalistic activities since he was a student. His writings were part of various newspapers and journals. He was among the most meritorious students and the university’s journalism department awarded him the Abdul Majeed Salik Award. In 1978, he got an opportunity to serve as a sub-editor in the daily Nawaiwaqtt, Rawalpindi, where he served for a year.
From there he went abroad for employment but remained associated with journalism as a freelance journalist while always returning home. His contact and meetings were maintained with literary and journalistic circles.
Then, he returned home in 1983 and started his own business. He focused on business for some time and then, in 1985, he was appointed as a regular correspondent from Attock for the Rawalpindi daily Nawaiwaqt. Through positive and constructive criticism of journalism, Syed Qamaruddin was a pioneer of quality reporting and wrote diaries especially on regional problems and political situations, which were very comprehensive and comprehensive. Being informative, it was interesting to the readers.
He was the soul of the Attock Press Club and held the organizational positions of the Attock Press Club many times and also interviewed important national leaders along with other members of the Attock Press Club. He used the platform of The Educators Club Attock to publish news with photos of deserving and position holder students in newspapers and, with the support of various institutions, awarded certificates and shields and encouraged them.
Syed Qamaruddin was part of the caravan of journalism of Attock in which founder chairperson Attock Press Club Registered Mansab Khan, Ismail Khan Shaheed, Akbar Yousafzai, Anwar Firoz, Syed Tahsin Hussain, Yahya Butt, Rana Sadiq Adeeb, Muhammad Asrar Qureshi and Malik Muhammad Saleem used to be a practicing journalist.
He continued to carry out his journalistic responsibilities with the utmost responsibility and integrity throughout his life and always supported the truth. With the death of Syed Qamaruddin, a bright light in the field of journalism went out.
