Reading the title you guys must be thinking that it is something to do with the connecting of an electric power system with ground for safety or functional purposes and also if you Google it the translation of Earthing refers to contact with the earth’s surface electrons by walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems, some of them patented, that transfer the energy from the ground into the body.
And that is where I am coming from, my topic is based on fundamentals of grounding, staying connected to our conductive system physically & spiritually and not to forget our base our ground that holds our feet’s.
As an admirer of Arts I used to follow legendary & controversial artist late. M.F Hussain, once watching his interview I noticed that he was moving around the city bare foot and he always was bare footed which as an artist added weight to his personality. Once asked why he preferred not to wear shoes he replied I am part of this nature and I want to feel connected.
Don’t get me wrong I also love nice things, physical possessions too and comfort that money can offer so here I am not trying to convey a new theory to not to wear shoes or go barefooted nor I am against hygiene or modernism as this also falls into our basic lifestyle & hygienic requirements but what I am trying to convey is that we should not get carried away with the superficial success , luxuries of our lives, our job or people we know that it starts to reflect in your behaviour and we forget our struggles and demean other people.
Recently I was reading Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday which somehow resonated well with me whilst going through a particular moment in my life. I will share an excerpt from this book ‘’ we live in a society where we often identify ourselves with the external possessions and become so attached and shackled to the ‘trappings’ of ‘success’ and materialism.’’
By living a humble life, you recognize the areas of your life that need work and if you accept it and work on improving yourself you are gifted with an asset called Humility and Humility is an asset for self-improvement.
It is through humility that we can honestly objectively analyse and develop ourselves,
Nelson Mandela once said “The first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.”
Humility makes us remember our struggles and our blessings in life. But humility is something we have to work on every day because it is not easy to be grounded as by nature we do not like any restrictions which makes it difficult for us to stay humble and on the other hand it is very easy to get humbled. Many at time due to our conduct, our sense of over pride and ego we get wrapped into uncomfortable situations which makes us feel helpless and that is the moment when we realize that it could have been different hadn’t we taken this route.
I would like to end this short but sweet discussion with a beautiful quote
“The best of people is the one who humbles himself the more his rank increases.”
